So it’s also easy to go way overboard here, packing enough stuff, a lot of it unnecessary, that a sturdy pack mule would buckle under. Make sure to ask lots of follow up questions related to their answers. But remember it’s a conversation , not an interrogation . So when they ask you a question, make sure to give a long detailed answer and answer any follow-up questions they ask you. Every conversation should be a give and take of talking and listening. Two topics that you WON’T find on this list are religion and politics. And that is because you probably shouldn’t discuss these topics unless you want to get into an argument with the person or make the person uncomfortable . Seriously, just don’t. And of course, there are some people who might just not feel like talking. Remember, if someone gives you a lot of one-word answers, doesn’t make eye contact, and doesn’t ask you any questions; that probably means they aren’t in the mood for a conversation. In that case, it’s better to just end the conversation and leave them to their own thoughts. Okay, enough with the introduction and tips. Here we go, topics to talk...

A longitudinal study begun in 1956 on the effect of the child's temperament on his development included 141 children, 136 of whom remained throughout the study. Aged 4 to 10 years in 1966, the 69 boys and 67 girls had a mean IQ of 127 established at 3 and 6 years of age and were from 85 middle or upper-middle-class families. The Parental Attitude Research Instrument indicated a homogeneity of attitude (permissive, child-centered) which, however, was not duplicated in actual child care practice. Temperamental characteristics established on a 3-point scale were activity level, rhythmicity, approach or withdrawal, adaptability, the intensity of reaction, the threshold of responsiveness, quality of mood, distractibility, and attention span and persistence. Regular parental, teacher and direct observations were conducted, and direct behavioral observation and parent interviews were significantly correlated (p=.01). Behavioral disturbances developed in 42 of the children (th...

For example, some schools use Facebook and Twitter to spread the word about school news and upcoming events. Others host blogs or wikis to share information about particular classes or school projects . The authors do, however, stress the importance of planning ahead before embracing any form of social media. As a high school principal, one of the greatest benefits of using social media has been connecting with stakeholders by delivering real-time information on student achievements , staff innovations, athletic scores, meetings and important updates to our school Web site. " Many researchers do believe that this maxim applies to your brain health. Brain training is all the rage these days, often touted as a way to sharpen your mind and even boost intelligence. While many cognitive scientists suggest that the claims surrounding brain training are both exaggerated and misleading , there is an abundance of research suggesting that certain types of activities can be beneficial for your brain's health. The brain's plasticity allows it to adapt and change, even as you grow older. As you learn new things, you can create and strengthen neural pathways and networks. This helps make your brain stronger, but it can also help make it more flexible and adaptable to change. While the researchers still debate whether or not brain training might ac...
