Hypertext Markup Language is the standard markup language for documents designed to be displayed in a web browser. It can be assisted by technologies such as Cascading Style Sheets and scripting languages such as JavaScript.   Stands for "Hypertext Markup  Language ."   HTML   is the   language   used to create webpages. "Hypertext" refers to the hyperlinks that an   HTML   page may contain. "Markup   language " refers to the way tags are used to define the page layout and elements within the page. Short for HyperText Markup Language, the authoring language  used   to create documents on the World Wide Web.   HTML   is similar to SGML, although it is not a strict subset.   HTML   defines the structure and layout of a Web document by using a variety of tags and attributes.
